Thanks for stopping by. Here’s a little more information.

What the heck is Website In A Weekend?

In short, it’s a series of 25 articles that will get you from no website to fully functional in about two and half days of work.

Website In A Weekend started during an informal “Stirfry Startup” friends and I have, roughly once a month, where we all get together, lock ourselves in someone’s living room for the weekend, and Make Stuff Happen. We eat a lot of stir fry too. Thus the name. We have a web site, but it’s private for now. Maybe later.

In any case, we’re all sitting around my friend Walter Yu’s condo overlooking the Sherwin William site, an amazing industrial wasteland in Emeryville California (behind the old Sherman Williams plant), and I was helping people install WordPress.

The “Website In A Weekend” concept occurred to me in a flash, so I immediately registered the domain and got to work. Speed of Implementation and all that.

It’s now been over one year. You have around 200,000 words of what I believe is the best, most well-rounded WordPress site on the internet.

If you can’t find what you need here, send me an email and I’ll see about writing something up.

More about Website In A Weekend

Website-In-A-Weekend (WIAW) is a special project of my company Inventium Systems, a “stealth startup” doing interesting projects for cool clients. As you can see, I put more time into my special projects than I do on my own company’s website.

Website In A Weekend is getting closer to a formal launch, but I have no set plans for launching yet. The main content of the site, 101 in-depth articles written to bring a raw recruit up to battle-hardened blogger, is finished.

The appearance is still a little bit rough… the focus is on heavy content. Many of the articles here require paying attention. Expect the graphics and design, that is, the appearance of Website In A Weekend, to markedly improve over time.

Once we launch, WIAW will provide a step-by-step procedure for building a complete website using the Wordpress blogging platform. By complete, WIAW will be going far, far beyond where all others stop: Strategy and tactics. Steak and sizzle. Most of the content will be available via blog posts, some has already been moved into ebook products. Which you should buy, because the information is very, very good, I guarantee it.

In the future, WIAW will have at least 2 levels of membership status: free and premium (requires newsletter subscription). There may be a paid option in the future. If you sign up for the newsletter now, you will probably get grandfathered in.

Articles on WIAW, that is, blog posts and blog pages, will range from short, Seth-Godin-style “snackables” to longer, much more in depth treatment of various aspects of running a for-profit website. Some of these articles may get technical… at least from the point of view of the average blogger… but everything will be explained in all necessary detail.

“And who are you, anyway?”

@Susan – “East Bay” is pig-latin for “Beast.”
