Marketing Toolkit

(Reading time: 5 – 8 minutes)

Signing up as an affiliate is easy. If you’re like me, you’re probably signed up with 30-40 affiliate systems!

Once you’re signed up, the easy part is over. Now you have to figure out how to promote your affiliated product!

I want to make really simple for you to promote Blog Post Engineering (and other products in the future), so I’ve created some marketing tools for helping you out.

Marketing tools you can use

Marketing anywhere requires finding people where they congregate, and addressing them in the way they preferred to be addresses. Some people like emails, some respond to blog posts, some will click on ads, and so on.

To be effective, let’s get the message out everywhere!

Here’s what have:

  1. Blog Posting tips:
  2. Twitter hints:
  3. Email sequence:
  4. Advertisements:

Let’s start with some blog post copy.

Blog Post Copy

  • Best: Write an article about the most interesting or most important benefit you obtained from Blog Post Engineering.

For example, as the author, I learned a tremendous amount while doing the research for the manual, including many obscure but important things such as how Google serves duplicate content, how search snippets are returned, and the important of internal linking.

  • Write a review: Spell out what you really liked (and what you felt needs improvement).

From my perspective, Blog Post Engineering needs more exercises! Creating a good exercise is strangely difficult, thus worthwhile.

  • Expand on a Blog Points: All of the Blog Point are distilled summaries, and much more could be written about each one. Choose a perspective different from that written about in the associated links.

Even though each Blog Point has one or more links going deeper, there is still more to learn. You benefit as your mastery of the material increases.

Don’t forget your affiliate link!

Some Twitter tips

Twitter is an excellent way to promote, and depending on who follows you and what they’re expectations are, you may be able to promote directly. Here’s a few suggestions:

  • Blog post publishing? (writing is only half the battle…) LINK
  • Blog Post Engineering: unSEO for the unCompromising LINK
  • Doing it By The Numbers with Blog Post Engineering LINK
  • Hate SEO? Try unSEO! (Blog Post Engineering, not what you think) LINK
  • Tell me yours in the comments, I’ll link it here!

Again, don’t forget to link using your affiliate link!

Here’s the one I’m really proud of: a plugin you can use to just drop in an affiliate widget.

Blog Post Engineering Widget Plugin

You have probably noticed the Blog Post Engineering badge in the upper right corner of the Website In A Weekend home page, at the top of the sidebar. While it looks like every other sidebar badge, it’s not.

Blog Post Engineering Widget plugin

Blog Post Engineering Widget plugin, drag and drop ease-of-use.

It’s way cooler.

It’s actually a plugin that provides a widget. The image and sales text are already written for you. All you have to do is add the title for the widget, the flyover text, and your affiliate URL.

And check it out: you add this stuff just like every other widget, fill out the form in the widget interface and you’re done:

  • No more messy HTML.
  • No more fiddling with stubborn CSS.
  • Just drag and drop, paste in your link, you’re good to go.

Get the Blog Post Engineering sidebar widget plugin. Installing is easy:

  • Download the bpe.zip file to your computer.
  • Upload the bpe.zip file using the WordPress built-in plugin zip file uploader.
  • Activate “BPE Widget” plugin.
  • Go to Widgets admin page, drag the Blog Post Engineering widget to your sidebar.
  • Fill in the blanks, everything should be self-explanatory. (The title attribute is for rollovers as usual.)
  • Save and close, you’re in business.

Images, banners, etc

Here’s some handy badges and banners you can use if you don’t want to use the automatic shortcodes supplied by the plugin.
