(Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes)
I was hanging out with my buddy we call “5am” (don’t ask) the other day, talking about blogging, making money and other “stuff” guys talk about.
It occurred to us that writing – blogging – is just the point of entry. It’s the start. No matter how good you are at writing, it’s really only the admission ticket.
It’s like having a ticket to a show at a nightclub. The ticket just gets you in the door.
Maybe it’s even the hottest club in Manhattan… Packed full of hotties.
Sure, you got your ticket, you’ll get in the door, but that’s no guarantee you’re gonna get some.
After about 6 months being immersed in the “blogging scene,” I see a lot parallels to every other “scene” I’ve been in or around: 10% of the people get 90% of the action. The hot dude surrounded by all the sl^H^H hot chicas. The bombshell blonde surrounded by dorky dudes tripping over their tongues.
Blogging is the same way.
Game on.

So it is important to know what next. Yeah — the next what we should do after get the entry ticket.

Nice explanation of the scenario, blogging is always a different thing from me, its not too much famous in India, so we can’t explain our parents about our activities on internet. They always thin its a waste of time.
Its pleasure to have a blogging experience for such a long time. I got too much to learn and I grabbed too much knowledge. Blogging changed my whole life. But I know that it never ends, every achievement is a startup to next step.
Yup.
Blogging is just a means to an end, not an end unto itself.
Just another tool in the arsenal.

A. Most bloggers don’t even have the ticket! Their writing sucks and their commitment is worse.
B. You’re right on most other aspects. Good writing is just one piece of the blog puzzle.

@Dana – That’s a tough call, because once you go through the door, yo have a lot of choices: SEO, Social Media, Affiliates, etc etc etc.
@Himanshu – Yeah, you have to be smart about it. My parents have absolutely no conception of what I do.
@Deacon – A perennial mistake conflating means for ends. I’ve just come off a 6 month “blog every day” jag, and cannot continue in the same manner. Blogging everyday isn’t the end, it’s a means, and when the end becomes unclear, it’s time to examine the means.
@Gabe – Pretty much true. Finding these puzzle pieces is part of the problem, fitting them together requires more.
