“So what is this ‘Blog Post Engineering’ thing anyway?”
That’s a really good question. Glad you asked.
Blog Post Engineering is a systematic, by the numbers, step-by-step procedure to help you cover all the bases you need to score big with both readers and search engines on any blog post.
You supply the inspiration.
Blog Post Engineering supplies the rest.
Write your blog post as usual. Then, go through each point given in Blog Post Engineering, checking each element of your blog post. How’s that title? Do you have your article tagged properly? What about the post slug, is it SEO friendly?
And your SEO metadata… it’s not that hard, are you getting it right? Find out in Blog Post Engineering.
Here’s the cool part: if you’re always in a hurry like me, you don’t have to work through all 30 points. Work your way from the top down. Especially, get those first 7 blog points handled and you have a huge chunk of your SEO covered.
Then you can go back later and fill in more, as needed.
Or you can be really smart: use Blog Post Engineering as you’re writing.
The current release is vastly improved over the initial ebook. Many thanks for encouragement and proofreading help from:
- Walter Yu for that first challenge: an ebook in a week.
- Sean Deacon for continual encouragement.
- Kelly Diels for close reading and many editorial suggestions.
- Joel Orr for telling me the discount code didn’t work, and purchasing anyway! Visit Joel at Joel Trains Authors.
- John Elrick for finding more typos.
Pre-release sale almost over
Looking through the transactions, there’s about 5 copies left for the pre-release $10 discount. (Use discount code “Mayday“)
[Update: May 10, 2010] The pre-release sale did well, selling 28 of 30 copies. The launch, notso hotso, but that turned into a great blog post on “unlaunching your ebook.” You can find a purchase link there, or just use this one:

Rolling down to launch time…
Any current customer or reviewers who would like to be listed above, send me your suggestions and corrections, and I will add you in. After the discount code runs out, I’ll link wherever you want, using your anchor text (you’ll have to let me know what you want for anchor text).
Working on setting up the affiliate stuff right now. Sign up for the affiliate newsletter (link in menu above) and I’ll shoot you an email when it’s ready to go.
I’m also working on a real sales page, and if you would like to be featured there with a testimonial, please let me know either here in a comment or send me an email, and I’ll send a link you will find super-helpful for writing testimonials.
Any other questions, please ask.
Thanks!
Hey Dave,
Would have grabbed it but a few things popped up for me recently that need sorting, bills etc, plus my part time work (real offline stuff lol) had dropped right off, not good. :(
So, but pushed to do anything at the moment, but I wondered if I could shoot you an email with an idea (not related to this) but I did get the idea while I was reading this blog yesterday. :)

Thanks mate, replied too. :)
No worries, I’ll be selling it a long time, updating a couple of times per year. Think “lifetime subscription.”
I am now thinking “continually improved product” :)

I’d jump on it, though like Rob I’m a bit short on cash at the moment. At least until the 8th-9th of next month (late, damn).
Looks really good though, hope the launch goes well for you =)

An eBook eh? Very exciting hope sales are going well. I’m getting ready to release a little product to my own readers that will include a simple app and some instructions to help them be efficient with their social bookmarking.
Got any good tips for the eBook? It’s my first and at times I find myself floundering about a little.
