Have you ever gotten ready to fix something, then found somehow it wasn’t broken? That’s just about where we’re at here on Website In A Weekend. I’ve been psyching myself up to move the whole site, wrote out a game plan, then logged in to grab a fresh copy of the database backup.
It’s been like molasses over the last week, but positively snappy this afternoon!
It turns out the attack is still being reported, but it must be lightening up considerably. As a result:
- Akismet is working again.
If everything goes well, comments will be back on by the weekend.Comments are turned back on! Let’s rock and roll!
- WordPress updated cleanly to 2.9.2.
- All the plugins updated without getting stuck in maintenance mode. I’ll have a little article on what to do if you get stuck in maintenance mode in the future.
Back to the salt mine.

Been reading all your under attack posts trying to work out what happened here. I have to admit I’m still a bit mystified but it does sound like an unwarranted and unwanted pain in the arse. Hope the nightmare is over and you can get back to doing what you do best:)
