DAVE! I am shocked that you remembered my one comment about music, this brought back memories and I am dusting off my old Mexican Strat as soon as I finish this comment.

While I am no where near a real musician, I will never forget the feeling I got when I hit my first chord, and it actually sounded good. That was 12 years ago, and I will be honest, my guitar has sat for over a year without me touching it other than to pack it up when I moved.

I have played and owned both Strats and Les Pauls, and I love them both for their differences, but I have to say that the wood grained Les Paul was my favorite for the sheer beauty of it.

I could rock so hard with that thing, and NOT pull the cord out of the guitar resulting in severely uncool buzz and hum. That guitar is genius for so many reasons.
