How To Publish Blog Post eBook version 0.5 Ready

by Dave Doolin on February 12, 2010 · 17 comments

(Reading time: 2 – 3 minutes)

Update: 2/22/2010 – SOLD OUT!

Watch for version 0.7 within a few weeks, reasonably priced at less than $10. I’ll be releasing no more than 100 copies.

Long time readers recall I issued a very limited edition (10 copies) of an ebook back on August 14, 2009.

“So what’s it all about?” you ask.

The idea is simple. Break the blog posting process into two parts:

  1. writing, and
  2. publishing.

Here’s how it works…

Writing blog posts that people want to read is not an easy task, but there’s already a lot of material out there on the web to help you succeed.

There’s also a lot of material on publishing blog posts… all that stuff you do after the writing is done… but it’s scattered everywhere.

No fancy cover. Don't need it.

“How to Really Publish a Blog Post” collects everything there is to know about getting your writing out there in front of people, your audience, and organizes that information into a simple, stepwise procedure for your WordPress blog.

There’s 33 points which help take the guesswork out of getting your blog post published. About half are optional.

How to get your copy

I’m selling 11 copies of version 0.5, all discounted from the anticipated retail price of about $20. Here’s the discount codes and what they mean:

  1. One copy (1) Discount code: Newsletter; price $4.95 ($15.00 off)
  2. Ten copies (10) 1 copy left, Discount code: Valentine; price $7.00 ($12.95 off )

Note: version 0.5 is a “preview” version. Buying now gets you free updates up to version 1.0.

If you have already purchased, I’ll be in contact shortly, or email me.

Ha! I just followed the link to the appendix where you talk about landslides…I am thoroughly amused by you. I haven’t gotten to the meat yet, but I’m already enjoying your book a lot. I feel smarter knowing a PhD.

Good grief! Given the price I bought the book and expected to read it over a cup of coffee. But it’s over 50 pages of double column content!

It’s one to pore over rather than scan. Thanks Dave.

Others – get a copy while the price is so low.

Mike, yeah, I usually over-deliver. It gets me in a lot of trouble.

Dave,
I really enjoyed your book. It covers not only the mechanics of wordpress and best practices for SEO, but also good writing techniques that help engineers with COK (curse of knowledge) communicate better. You know, benefits vs features and all. Thanks for putting it out there! The checklist is on my wall and quite helpful.

Not quite, there’s 3 left.

I’ll probably put a note out on the mailing list. That should move the last three.

Excellent! There’s only 2 left.

Please let me know how it works out on the iPhone. I didn’t think about delivery there, but I am now.

Works great via FileAp. I had to send it across to my phone via wireless ftp since Apple made the creators of FileAp remove the USB upload option :( I’ve never had a problem with this but I understand it’s a problem for folks without wireless.

The only downside of reading it on my phone is that the links aren’t clickable. Now that you have the wonderful WPTouch theme on your blog, the recommended blog posts at the end of each chapter is easy to read ;)

Just found out I’m in school for the next two days so now I have something useful and entertaining to read :D

I’ll be looking into iPhone delivery in the future. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Let me know if there are any parts I didn’t write clearly enough for you to understand. I’m making several more complete passes through the text before I release version 1.0.

Folks, we’re done with version 0.5.

I’m hard at work on version 0.6, which I’ll release to existing owners. I would delighted to have feedback on anything you find confusing.

Version 0.7 will be the next public release. I plan on releasing no more than 100 copies of version 0.7, priced around $10 (or a little less).

Once again, thank you for purchasing this early release of my ebook. I have some interesting ideas I’m going to attempt to implement before release version 1.0 final. We’ll see how those work out. In any case, I’m working hard on improving readability, and there will be a short glossary starting in version 0.7.

Absolutely!

Look for version 0.7 in a month or so. Tentative plan: releasing about 25 copies at $9.95.
