This surely is very insightful, especially backing up the data upon because many people usually forget to backup their data or simply avoid the importance of it which will eventually land them in deep trouble. CSS rules surely sound like a great idea and I’m going to try this out! Many thanks for sharing this here.

Reverse engineer it. Start with the no_sidebars.php and rip out the header and footer code.

Keep an eye on the containers so you get your CSS working correctly. That’s really the key to it. The CSS example above should be more or less fine.

Thanks for the lightening fast reply!
After spending a large part of the day working on this I was really beginning to question my sanity!

Any ideas on how I could accomplish the same thing currently?

No, won’t work for 1.7.

The Thesis API changed in 1.7.

I’m not happy about that at all, but that’s Chris’s prerogative.

I’m going to circle back around when WP3.0 and Thesis 2.0 are both released. Don’t want to waste my time chasing a moving API.

Setting the custom class in the page editing interface is absolutely key. Much more difficult if you leave that out.

This is brilliant Dave, just what I’ve been looking for. I love Thesis and have been using it for my blog for some time now. I’m definitely gonna try this out for my new company website which I want to build with Thesis too, using a static front page. Thanks!
