[...] To understand how you become a respected member of the electro-chattyverse. You write a single post or series of features devoted to removing someone else’s problem. It could be your problem. But if you document it and hit the nail on the head by scratching the itch, you have friends for life. My favourite pillar content creator du jour is David Doolin, aka Dr WordPress. Through experience and straightforward genius he saw there were still people in the world who wanted to set up a blog. So to those nine people (eight… seven…) David said: “Look – give me a weekend, and I’ll give you a blog. A bloody amazing blog!” And he pulls it off in such an entertaining and educational way, that even blog regularists will learn something from his wise 2.5 day tutelage. Start here.
Lori, <a href="http://www.evernote.com/">Evernote</a> is an easy to use online tool that's great for 'blog notes' or any other scraps of info you want to store.

It allows you to type in a note, or highlight information on a web page and clip it. Or you can just save the whole page. You can apply tags to your notes, and search by text or tag, or both. I use it a fair bit and haven't yet reached the point where I need more than the free account.

A huge advantage, besides those already mentioned, is that Evernote is accessible from any computer that has web access. I truly think that almost any blogger who tries it will love it.

Thanks, Ms. Freeman!

You should find it extremely useful for auditing your website. Let me know if anything is borked.

Hey this is really cool, I am going to set aside some time this weekend to tag along. I am sure there is a lot I didn't do to get my blog up and running.

You are soooo awesome to do this :)

Hi Dave - again, your post full is of awesomeness.

I have a single notebook where I keep my 'blog notes' - pen and paper style! I can't agree more with this tip, which you give here as well. Somehow, it's simply faster for me if I have problems or something comes up with my host (etc.) - I just grab the notebook and start flipping through.

The other thing I'd add is to get an idea about what images a person would like to represent him or her (i.e., logo, Gravatar, etc.). Get a head start and get the mind gears rotating around this. It's how people will recognize you and associate you to your words. Granted, in business this is a million dollar industry, but this aspect has taken the most of time to develop for my blog (looking back). ;)

Great site, Dave!

Sometimes, we're blind to the obvious!

Updated, because gravatars are really, really important.

Thanks!

Extra water if you drink a lot of coffee (like I do).

I also like to have a comfy place in mind that I can sit and work for a couple uninterrupted hours. Comfort is key!
