I'd love to see it updated for the latest iteration of WP - though your schedule suggests to me it would be easier if you figured it out for v.3.0 to give yourself some time to think about it. Double click on a zip file to unzip it, no third party program needed. And do you count configuring plugins as part of "configuring Wordpress"? I mentally think of "configuring wordpress" as configuring the base system, and would put "configure plugins" after that.
