(Reading time: 4 – 7 minutes)
Yeah, some numbskulls with too much time on their hands ran a botnet attack against my Bluehost shared server and shut everything down for over a week. I was going to update this article and run it on Friday 19 January, but the server went completely offline most of Thursday.
And I stopped caring.
But, now we’re back, and better than ever: romance, pr0n, art, it’s all here.
Let’s get the dirty stuff out of the way first.
Rick Toone, Luthier & Purveyor of Fine Guitar Pr0n
I can hear you now: “Geez, man, how do you find this stuff?”
I have no earthly idea.
I just know something good when I see it, and ergonomic guitar controls are definitely something good. Rick Toone tells us like it is:
Les Pauls and Strats feel very different, in part due to the location of the switches, potentiometers and jack. For me, at least, after I’ve logged some hours with one of those instruments, jumping to the other feels like caressing an alien species.
That’s what I’m sayin’!
If you didn’t know what a luthier is, it’s Rick Toone. He builds custom guitars, of all kinds, like Orchid, an incredible bass guitar custom built for 16 year old Halie. Make sure to watch at least a few minutes of video, where Monster meets Orchid (scroll down).
Rick: “What could be better about it?”
Monster: “If I could own it.”
Bass guitar not your thing? Ok, try Starfish. Keith Bloemendaal, here’s one for you buddy, what this beast was built for, modern american progressive rock:
This is what I love about the Week in Review, bringing you the coolest web I can find.
Operation Secret Valentine
Ok, so this is where I was going to harangue you on February 12 to make sure you got your Secret Valentine shot over to Kelly Diels so she could add it to a little ebook she was going to put together.
The botnet had other ideas. I was totally unable to complete this article.
In any case, I’m keeping Kelly’s link in place because: 1. I don’t care enough to rewrite it out of this article, 2. removing it messes up my formatting for the article (see item 1). So, if you haven’t already (or even if you have), you can go grab a copy of her Operation Secret Valentine ebook. There’s no “opt-in,” just download and enjoy.
Deacon’s done a hundred and one
Recall many moons ago, Deacon and I made a bet: 101 blog posts against 101 woodblocks. He lost on the numbers, but I think he won on the woodblocks (way cooler than blog posts).
So, he’s done. All 101 woodblocks are finished. I’ve seen some of his last set, they are fantastic!
You may also recall the price goes up several hundred percent. Like 300-400%. This is not BS. Right now, you can sign up for Deacon’s newsletter and get these prints for material cost and shipping. About $8.35 if I recall correctly. Monday morning, he’s raising the price substantially. I don’t how much.
You have something less than 24 hours to own an original and unique wooblock print for little less than $9.
